flight and womens rights
More than 65 million people worldwide are on the run. About half of them are girls and women. The majority of them flee within their own country or to neighbouring countries. Comparatively few reach Europe.
Female fugitives, in particular single fugitives (with and without children), are at particular risk of gender-specific violence at all stages of their escape.
The event will address the causes of flight in current refugee countries and women-specific problems in asylum procedures, the legal status of refugee women in Germany, and in particular what is necessary to strengthen womens professional self-determination.
